Thunderbird Chronicles

For something that was supposed to be light and fun, I spent far too long on this . Still, I'm quite pleased with how all of it turned out, and it has that bright happy Pokemon feel. You know the hardest part of Pokemon style to draw? Those arms. Seriously.

Anyway....This is sort of a cover (but mostly just a picture) of a comic I'm likely to never do. In it you follow the struggles of reluctant Pokemon trainer John Tracy as he travels with older brother Scott and eventually meet up with the sharp and spunky Penelope (also known as just Penny). Penny quickly becomes John best friend while she and Scott struggle with romantic feelings towards each other.

Eventually, the reluctant John goes from being a boy too afraid to leave home by himself to a confident young man who battles his big brother for a chance to face their father-- the Pokemon reigning Pokemon master.

It's kind of a fun story . Each of them is drawn here with their first and most loyal Pokemon-- the one most often out of its Pokeball.

For Penny it is her Jigglypuff, given to her by her parents who were often away. Jigglypuff would sing her to sleep when she was afraid in her nursery, and the two are fast companions. Penny trains pink pokemon, and is largely a normal type trainer.

Scott trains dragon/flying type Pokemon, with his starter Ace the Charmander. The two are very close companions, usually curling up together at night and snoring loudly in chorus . Scott is a confident trainer who isn't afraid to take on any challenge that comes his way, even if he delayed his journey a year so he could go with John.

John there is a psychic trainer. He was afraid of his Abra and its power at first, but the two soon get so in tune with each other that Abra will react to John's emotions-- including if he is upset with Scott. Abra is rarely in its Pokeball, often making it float away from John whenever he tries. Instead, the small Pokemon is quite often given piggy backs by his trainer because it sleeps so much.

For those wondering about Virgil, Gordon, and Alan, well, they'd get adventures in later generations of Pokemon and on the different continents. Yep .
