Hiashi, or Ashi as his family calls him, is probably the gentlest soul anyone will ever meet. A pacifist by nature, he will only turn to violence as his very last resort. The only reason he became a ninja was to protect Hizashi, who he can't stand to be separated from.

Ashi has had to struggle for a lot of things in his life. He's dyslexic, so school is hard for him, and his soft-spoken nature has made it nearly impossible for him to make friends. He is painfully shy, and will run from a social situation before he tries to face it.

More of a thinker and dreamer, Ashi spends hours building models of all kinds (though trains are his favorite), or tinkering with things around the house. He doesn't invent so much as just really like taking things apart and putting them back together again.

Hiashi gets along very well with his mother, but idolizes his father. All he ever wants to do is make Neji proud of him. Due to constantly comparing himself with Hizashi (and Hotaru, when she is there), Hiashi has a very low self esteem, and needs constant reassurance that his father is proud of him.

He and Neji are very close.
